The movement

Football's most
curious people,
in one room.

Sporting directors, sports scientists, academy leads, club doctors, analysts, founders, investors and coaches who believe football can become more intelligent without losing its soul — and who are willing to be wrong in front of each other in order to get there.

The question wall

The questions
the room is
actually working on.

We do not publish testimonials. We publish the open questions members bring — because a community is better judged by what it is willing to admit it does not know.

Select any question to read the Institute's current position. Positions are revised in public when the evidence moves.

Head of PerformanceIf the risk score says amber and the manager says he plays, who is accountable?

Governance, not analytics. The Institute's position is that any predictive system deployed without a written decision right — naming who may override it and on what basis — will eventually produce an injury that nobody owns.

Our position +
Sporting DirectorHow do we compare a 17-year-old in a league nobody watches to one in our academy?

Standardised cross-league evaluation makes the comparison possible. It does not make it fair. Models trained on historical selection inherit historical bias, and late developers are the first casualty.

Our position +
Club DoctorWhy does the same information mean something different in my department and theirs?

Because it arrives with different context, different incentives and different consequences. This is the connection problem, and it is structural rather than personal.

Our position +
Chief ExecutiveHow do I evaluate a technology claim I am not qualified to assess?

You do not assess the technology. You assess the decision it changes, the cost of being wrong, and whether your organisation can absorb it. All three are within your competence.

Our position +
Academy DirectorAre we developing footballers or optimising for the next selection window?

The honest answer for most academies is the second, dressed as the first. The measurement system almost always reveals the true objective.

Our position +
AnalystWhat do I do when the evidence contradicts the coach?

You make the evidence travel upwards without making it a confrontation. Whether that is possible is a leadership question about the club, not a communication question about you.

Intelligence Roundtables

Quarterly.
Small. Off record.

Twelve people, one question, ninety minutes, Chatham House rule. No slides from vendors, no panel of people agreeing with each other, and no recording released without every participant's consent.

Q3 · September

The risk score and the team sheet

Decision rights, override authority and accountability when predictive models meet selection pressure.

Q4 · November

What 2026 actually taught us

Load, travel, heat and recovery across an expanded tournament — and what it implies for the domestic calendar.

Q1 · February

Talent, widened or narrowed?

Whether standardised evaluation is genuinely expanding the search for players, or quietly shrinking the definition of one.

Thank you. Your question is now in the wall.

Applications are reviewed monthly. You will hear from the Institute either way — and if your question is a good one, you may hear about it before you hear about your membership.
